One of the early follows responsible for my continuous use of Twitter was hotdogsladies. The man behind the handle is the productivity wizard Merlin Mann, best know for his 43Folders blog which is best know for Inbox Zero which is best known for managing your email.

What made me come back to Twitter in the early days was Mann’s one-liners…or at least 140 character liners. He has been known to hard return tweets to signify a “beat”–which can emulate the comedic timing that is hard to capture in a textual medium. Lucky for us, he doesn’t limit himself to text in his humorous podcast You Look Nice Today with @lonelysandwich and @scottsimpson.

There are no atheists in foxholes or firmware updates.

My only beef with Mann’s web presence, is inconsistency. The podcast isn’t on any discernible schedule and his tweets drop off the map for weeks at a time. I imagine that he considers the funny stuff secondary to his lecture schedule and or family, but I can’t pass over the irony that the Internet’s premiere productivity guru can’t make time for it all.

Somewhere, a sad, obese man in pristine ASICS scarfs cookie dough over an unopened _Runner’s World_, complaining that he needs more “tips.”

If you can handle the emotional baggage of a Twitterer leaving you (at times) for someone else, hotdogsladies is a clear follow. His tweets are less funny than they used to be, but only because he has been working in more anecdotes from his real life and tech noting. Make no mistake, the funny is there…even if you need to read it a few times to get it.

nice review! that man IS funny!

[...] I first became acquainted to @Ihnatko on the popular podcast MacBreak Weekly hosted by Leo Laporte. IMHO, it is the only show on the TWiT Network in which Mr. Laporte isn’t the main draw, I give that distinction to Andy (and on the rare occasion, the previously reviewed Merlin Mann.) [...]
